UN Peacekeepers Rape in Central African Republic. We find that it is far too common to rape women in Africa. We also find African men who went into Europe also have a propensity to molest and rape. Take for instance New year’s Eve in Cologne Germany and in Sweden; we have many rapes from migrants who come to Europe. So it is not without any wonder that we ask why do ‘African men’ seem prone to rape’? Or is it just our imagination? Reading this story and the literal witness of another rape by UN peacekeepers we are reminded that such allegations follow these peacekeepers.
I find it utterly appalling that those who are responsible for protecting people are the same ones violating these people. In many cases, so poor, so displaced, and so vulnerable it is easy to push your will on them. Yet, these women and children who are raped; are important and these things should not be done.
The UN needs to stop and look at this and then do something to address the situation to hold those people accountable for their actions. To make sure it does not happen anymore.
