Way of Truth and the ‘False Prophets and Teachers damnable heresies’ there is a prolific batch of deceit flowing today. For the True believer and follower of the Lord Jesus [Yeshua] Christ [Massiach] this follows the warnings that came from the Apostles themselves. As the believers in the Lord grew, with the biggest group among the gentile followers the deceivers came out from the among the church itself. It was here that their teachings began to flow into the groups of gentile believers themselves and it was Jude, John, Paul, Peter, and the rest of the leaders to quell these teachings. Today we face and have been facing for years such teachings that have made their way into mainline denominationalism.
Way of Truth! ‘False Prophets, Teachers, & damnable heresies’
2 Peter 2:1 ¶But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
3 ¶And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
Peter and Jude both speak directly to false prophets. These were among the people in the days of Israel, and both speak directly to the believers they were writing too and telling them, even so, there will be false teachers. Both these groups brought damnable heresies to bear upon those who heard them. These were men who like Balaam, spoke the word of prophecy for profit, so to speak. Today we too have many such prophets. Although, todays prophets and teachers do not charge outright to prophesy as Balaam did, they still are caught up in the secular monetary gain in their religious work. At least Baalim did make it plain he would do it for profit, as he was adaptable to taking gain for his work. Today these religious purveyors call ‘gain’ godliness and promote it as such, even calling it in so many words ‘the new revelation’ for these last days.
Today, however, it is more elusive. Many of today’s prophets teach prosperity, which in itself is not a bad thing. Afterall, who wants to be poor? Yet, today’s prophets get rich, and even the teachers today get rich. I mean rich as in do pretty well for a preacher! But the motivation to get people to give is through covetousness. They want more, and need more, so they bring forth ways to get people to give so they can continue the message of prosperity. The things I have heard these so called prophets and preachers and teachers say is not only hard to swallow, but downright pagan and profane. Yet in spite of this, Americans have given to these prosperity preachers billions. In the process, they line up as some of the most well to do and well known bible teachers in America. It doesn’t seem to bother people that the things they teach is not only full of covetousness but also makes the way of truth evil spoken of. In this I mean that today finding a true gospel preacher is far and few between.
