Fighting for a cause: ‘Iraq’s Child Soldiers’. Child soldiers have parents; as do many soldiers, the problem is these soldiers are mere children. But when you live in a country that has been torn with over a decade of war, civil war, and bombings; the innocence slips away. What is more, the tradition of using children to fight is not new.
Saddam and the Ayatollah both did it in their war with each other. In Africa we covered stories of children fighting, like in Angola, Sierra Leone, Uganda, and other areas. But the time comes when these kids are tired of the blood and violence. They want to be normal kids.
It is heartbreaking to see such children harden, kill, maim, and become bloodthirsty killers.
