Occupy till I Come and be Faithful

Occupy till I come reflects the readiness of those who are Christians. The real question is this one. Are Christians aware of what is going on? Today, where people are so caught up on daily events it is easy to be caught off guard. It is truly something to behold when we spend so much time in our own little worlds, we have no clue as to what is going on. Further, we allow the rampant fake news to inform us. Whether it is true or not, people will sit there and soothed into unconsciousness. Numbed to it all, especially any warning of a new Kingdom Come of the Lord Jesus Christ. We are to Occupy till the Lord returns, and we are required to be faithful.

Occupy till I Come and be Faithful

Just before the Triumphal Entry our Lord gave the parable of the Ten Minas. After the Triumphal entry in scripture, we find Jesus’ weeping over Jerusalem. One of the last things he said in that section in Luke 19:41-44 was this “For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, and shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation!

Moreover, in the parable of the Ten Minas we find our Lord giving this in the house of Zacchaeus. It was Zacchaeus who said “Behold, Lord, half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken anything from any man by false accusation, I restore to him fourfold”. And Jesus said unto him, “This day is salvation come to this house, for as much as he also is a son of Abraham. For the son of man is come to seek and to save that which was Lost” -Luke19:8-10.

Occupy till I Come and be Faithful – The Ten Minas

The importance of the parable of the Ten Minas cannot be overstated. The Greek word transliterated pound is Mina, plural it is Minas. This is the Parable of Ten pounds, like unto the parable of the talents found in Matthew 25:14-28. The kingdom was coming, and this kingdom was the Lords. In the house of Zacchaeus, Jesus [Yeshua] directly spoke that he was come to save those who are lost. In his weeping over Jerusalem, we find that “Israel, the son of Abraham; knew not the time of His visitation”! The event of Roman General Titus who would come and destroy Jerusalem, it’s walls, its temple, carry things away, and kill almost a million Jews would be the fulfillment of this prophetic warning. John says, “he went to his own and his own received him not, but to as many as did receive Him; to them gave he power to become the Sons of God.” While many did not receive the Lord as who he really was, this included the High Priest, most of the Sanhedrin, Pharisees, Sadducees, and Lawyers; there were those like Zacchaeus who did believe in who he was.

The same problem lay ahead for the gentiles around the world as well as those Jews who even in Israel still do not believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, Yeshua Ha Massiach. Today we find the world in chaos. Israel today faces a collection of some 57 Arab nations who are mostly Anti-Israel. The hatred and bitterness between the sons of Isaac and Ishmael have never mended itself and eventually will break out into a major war.  We also know from scripture that one last gentile push of all nations led by the last major leader of the gentiles will take place. The beast of Revelation 18 will lead the nations against Israel. In addition, all nations will gather in Jerusalem. The center place of the world will be the center place of judgment for the nations, the beast, and the false prophet. That center is Jerusalem in Israel!

Furthermore, America as well faces troubles. Within our shores lay a nation in division. The difference between the liberal American led by the socialist Democrats and the conservative Christian American is a wide gap. This will never be narrowed. We have seen the hatred, lies, and threats thrown at then Pres. Trump. The jokes, the liberal press, and Hollywood never did stop with Donald Trump and His administration the point of their railing. To tell the truth, we saw major tech companies like Facebook, Twitter, Google, and others who thwarted conservative voices from using their platforms. Conservatives, Christians, commentators, and Trump supporters were deemed ‘unsafe to the community’ on Facebook were removed from doing their commentating there. But these and many more have gone on to new opportunities and social media sites.

In the end the push by virulent social media was overcome by President Trump, and Patriots, Christians, and Conservatives all have found alternatives. In addition, this illustrates just how divided this nation is. The house we call America is divided and as I have written before, and the bible reveals “a house divided cannot stand”! However, in addition to being divided what about the issue of how evil, immoral, impure, and godless this nation is? But America is not alone, we can surely define the godlessness of other nations and the evil they do! In short, these are the perilous times mentioned by the Apostle Paul.

Make no mistake the purpose for the Christian believer to stay put, live life, and to Occupy oneself with Kingdom business, faith, and pursuit is paramount to what scripture says. The world may not like the bible, its teachings, or faith; but we are the light, we follow the truth, and the only answer to life is what we testify about. It is about Jesus, Yeshua the Messiah. The Christ, the only begotten Son of God. As the world becomes more Antichrist daily, our calling does not stop.

Kingdom Come -The Christian Occupation

Yet despite all this political speak and national division; we as Christians are to do as our Lord commands, which is “to occupy till I come”! We don’t put our values, morals, and the bible on hold because the general population will support things that are fundamentally immoral and against the Word of God. This is the battle today and it is a world that is against the Christian God ‘Our Father’ and our Savior Jesus ‘Yeshua’ Christ! Thus, we face the world which is anti-God, anti-bible, and anti-Christ. This fits with Paul’s warning in 2 Thessalonians chapter two saying that society will “reject the Love of the truth”, which is all that the gospel and our Lord entails.  Remember, “there is way that seemeth right to man, but the end thereof is death”-Prov 16:25!

Kingdom Come Occupy!

The Lords command to “Occupy” till I come does not mean to merely possess; but goes farther as *Barnes writes. It means to “improve”, to employ “in business”, for increasing it or making “profit”. The point was to use the money to gain “more” when he returns. In this example the Lord uses this to illustrate that as his disciples we must “improve” our talents, to make the most of them, and to increase our ability of doing good. We are to do this good until he returns or by death, we meet him.  [*Albert Barnes, commentaries; New Testament]

Simply put, it is okay, and the Lords will for us to live for Christ and use what he has given us for his glory! To live faithfully unto him!

And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.  (12)  He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.  (13)  And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.

Luk 19:11-13

But there is a segment in this parable that says, “we will not have this man to reign over us”! This represents not only the house of Israel and those Jews at the time which rejected our Lord, but even Gentiles who reject him. The second Psalm details the nations and men who “take counsel together against the Lord and His anointed.” Today it is no different. Many nations, peoples, religions take counsel against our Lord and His people; here I do not mean just Jews. But Christians who today are dying for their commitment to the Lord.

One day the Lord will return and when he does, he will find out how faithful those who are his servants have been. Here is stewardship, faithfulness, and going about our Lords business. As the world is in chaos and turmoil, we are to be faithful, busy, and not turning from our appointed rounds as his ambassadors and witnesses.

(15) And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.  (16)  Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.  (17)  And he said unto him, well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.  (18)  And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.  (19)  And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities.  (20)  And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin: (21) For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow.  (22)  And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:  (23) Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?  (24)  And he said unto them that stood by, take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.  (25) (And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.)  (26)  For I say unto you, that unto everyone which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.

Luk 19:15-26

We are to occupy and be faithful here and in this means using that which he has given us for his glory. Whatever talents and ability, whatever ministry we are in, and whatever we do in life; all is for his glory. But in this occupying, we can find time to enjoy life, be at peace, walk in love, and yet be in a moral state with our Lord. Being faithful to him and his Word.

We are not to allow the turmoil in our world to dissuade us from being about our Lords business. As well, it is true here that while the world is not at peace, we can have His peace in our souls. This peace can pervade all aspects of our being and life. Simply, we can be happy, blessed, and at peace. Here I do not speak of being rich, full of dollars in your pocket, and a retirement in some far away tropical paradise. Christ Jesus is faithful even when we are not! Thus, we must be faithful to him; so, let us purpose to do the best we can in life occupying and living for our Lord.

But there is a staunch warning to Christians and be warned.  Even that servant of our Lord; if he allows an evil heart to enter, he will face judgment with the hypocrites! The Lord comes and wants to find us so doing, i.e. “Being faithful and wise” as a true believer should be.

Therefore, be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the son of man cometh. Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Verily I say unto you, that he shall make him ruler over all his goods. But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, my lord delayed his coming; And shall begin to smite his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken. The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looked not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth
