The Face of Temptation comes to the walls of #Judah. There comes a day of reckoning for the people of #God. If they will hear and obey, then fine indeed. But if they fail to listen, the #chastisement begins and the #FaceofTemptation arrives. For Judah, the proof of trouble is sitting outside the gates of #Jerusalem. On the walls of the city line the soldiers who are charged with defending from attacks. Outside the gate up walks the enemy to address the city. However, the one who speaks, #Rabshakeh is looking to speak to those defending Jerusalem. For a long #siege means no water, no food, and plenty of suffering. As is with the tactics of the #devil, he comes as a friend to coerce you to do things he wants. Here at the wall and gate of the city also stands the messenger for #Sennacherib. #Assyria now holds all the key cards in this game of #life and #death. Yet, as the messenger tells the people on the wall that their God sent the Assyrians to destroy the city; the real issue is who is defending the city. Watch and Pray Always the Lord gives it as a warning and a command. We are to #Watch because of the trouble that is coming. We are to #Pray always. We are to avoid being so “overcharged in our lives” with #surfeiting. Here the word is as a seizure of pain like a headache from #drunkenness. This is plain and simple a #glut meaning ‘an excessive amount’. This leads to #debauchery, #excessive #indulgence that leads to #sexual #immorality. He warns about being so caught up with the cares of this life so that you do not see the end of days snare coming upon you. We are therefore to avoid those things while #Watching and #praying always that we will be accounted worthy to escape all these things which are coming. Conformed Transformed Renewed are the first points that the #Apostle #Paul makes. #Conformed #Transformed #Renewed are the three words that brings forth your reasonable service. We are to carry the #cross, here as Paul says, “present your bodies a #livingsacrifice.” The goal is to be #holy and #acceptable to #God, this is your reasonable service. We believe and have #faith, #justified thereby. But also, as his Children and disciples we are not to be #conformed to the #world but transformed by the renewing of our minds. This is done through the #Spirit and the #WordofGod. These admonishments come on the heels of Paul’s defense of Israel and the discussion of the gospel, the Jews, and the Gentiles. In the end we are all, through #ChristJesus; #Yeshua HaMassiach, all found in Him as one body with many members. Christ is the head, to the glory of the Father.

Hezekiah and Sennacherib meet in fulfillment of Isaiah’s Prophetic words given regarding #Judah and #Assyria invasion. #Isaiah gave the #Prophecies and to both men, we see fulfillment. In addition, Judah is up against one of the most formidable powers of her day, which is Assyria. It is not by chance that #Hezekiah and #Sennacherib meet at the gates of #Jerusalem. It was a real threat to all nations around Judah and the #Assyrian war and pillage machine was one of best there is at destruction in the aftermath of an invasion. There is one tiny problem that makes for a huge situation for Sennacherib and his Army. The #Lord #God would defend Judah this day. The result is a lesson to Judah and its citizens. There would be only one Hope for the #Davidic city of #Jerusalem. It would not be a treaty with their enemy. Nor could those in Judah bribe the army to stop. Since they already had paid them, they were invaded anyway.

I have read this book thoroughly, and it is quite a page turner. The author, Dana Glenn Smith, wrote The Rising before all the riots erupted across America. He doesn't have a crystal ball, but he relies on the input provided by our Lord. Some folks will ask if it is possible for treasonous forces inside America to be actively trying to bring America down. The forces of the evil darkness will do whatever it takes, to satisfy their dark lord. Pick up The Rising, you'll be glad that you did.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat, I had a hard time putting this book down. It has a few surprises along the way. I have to say there are a few characters that are my favorite, the Uncle, Tiger, the Uncle's best friend, the Pastor and his wife and the relative of the Uncle. Steel the Darkness is an enjoyable read and leaves the ending wide open for another one. The Col is an evil man, one that seems to be out for only one thing, The destruction of human souls. Will he prevail or will the faith of the People fighting against the darkness win?
