The Sons of God Trust in Him, our Lord Jesus Christ; Yeshua HaMassiach to the glory of our Father and great God. We have notable examples of Trusting God for Refuge, Protection, and Promise. Everyone has trust in something or someone. It boils down to faith, Trust here. David is one such example. In America today and the world there is a mist of darkness over the nations. In these last days, the question will be where will you stand? This lone question though today applies to the many threats people face. One after another. Yet the source of threats and danger is the same. The source of Hope and Deliverance is also the Same, howbeit two diverse sources. As the storm assails you will make decisions based on what you trust. David revealed his stand continuously by standing in the Lord. David believed he would be sheltered and kept in the Lord during the storm. In these last days, the storm is upon us. To whom will you look for shelter?

Sons of God Trust in Him
One such Son of God who had Trust was King David. As we use the phrase “Sons of God” we recognize that the fulness of the Sons of God will occur when our Lord returns. In second Samuel chapter 22 we find a section that covers what I call the testimony of King David. In verse one we find that the words which followed were part of a song the King composed and sang when the LORD delivered David out of the hand of all his enemies and out of the hand of Saul. David had enemies. He ran, hid, fought, sought God, sang, composed, was a shepherd, a King, and committed sin with Bathsheba. Yet he was a man after Gods own heart. David, in all that he was, found in the end of it all, the LORD was his rock, fortress, and deliverer. David found out, that in true repentance, there is found forgiveness in the Lord. You never know how much something may mean to you until it is gone. David saw his life threatened, and severe consequences for his sin with Bathsheba. Yet, David also knew repentance, worship, and did seek the LORD.
For this article we take a phrase that fits among many great words of faith and adherence to the Lord. We look at verse three of this section for the words “in him will I trust”. When speaking of trust specifically we look at this word. But we cannot take it alone. For it takes the words in, him, will, I, trust. This is the English translation of one Hebrew word. Thats right, the phrase “in him will I trust” is just one Hebrew word. It is in the quote box below. But to summarize it is Strong’s 2620, chacah, pronounced khaw-saw. This word means “to seek refuge”, to “flee for protection”, to put your trust in God. When your enemy, here I refer to the devourer, the devil attacks; there is Hope. If your enemy is some person that wants to see you destroyed decides to attack, then there is hope. I do not presume to tell you that today Christians do not get martyred or harassed or put in prison. But make no mistake, David had real enemies and took to using many tactics to escape them. We see this to understand that as Christians we do not just stand there like Custer in the middle of the battle that ended his life. I know for many this may be mute, but we are to seek refuge in and protection from our Lord. As you do this, you ‘trust’ God to keep you hidden, protected, and thus this becomes your “confidence” and the “reason you hope” in your God. David proved this repeatedly.
Make no mistake about it when a person is in this trust mode, you will see your enemies. They may even pursue you. In this you even might find them mocking, pointing fingers, and even trying to kill you just as Saul tried to kill David. David was delivered in it all. I again emphasize this. I know many believers around the world face persecution. Many also are martyred, but not all are killed or martyred. There are numbers of Christians who face enemies of varied sorts every day. David’ words should speak to us loud and clear. David said, “when the waves of death compassed me, the floods of ungodly men made me afraid, the sorrows of hell compassed me about, the snares of death prevented me.”
Here is the one who would reign strong in Israel, one in whom the promises to the Line of David were given too. Yet he is afraid, because of all the ungodly men who surrounded him. They meant to kill David. In this, it looked like pure hell came knocking. As hell visits you can be sure the dark one or one his minions came by also to point a finger and say, “I’m going to kill you, David.” I can also see this evil one mocking David saying, “where is your God now, it doesn’t look like you will collect on all those promises God made to you.”
But to this, David said, “in my distress”, you can believe what this says, it means. Man, it was distressful. Have you ever been distressed? I’m sure you have, in fact we all have been in similar circumstances, without facing death, yet we were distressed. The enemy is mocking us, our flesh is weak, and all hell is breaking around us. We see destruction and death appear before us and lo they say, “come on”. But when this happens, do what David did. He said, “in my distress I called upon the LORD”, and “cried to my God”, and “He did hear my voice out of his temple”. “My cry” David said, “did enter into his ears.” The word LORD is Yahweh, the personal name of God. The name of the covenant keeping God, who is LORD, to those who walk in his ways, his covenant. Those who know his name and call upon him. These are no fence sitters, or lukewarm believers here. They know their God and walk in his ways. David cried to God, oh yes, it is okay to cry unto the LORD. I mean not just talk, plead, or pray, but to weep to the LORD in your affliction.
I know some teachers and preachers say this is wrong. But know this, the LORD knows your make up, that is, your framework. He who made all things also knows every aspect of your being. He knows that you are dust and to dust you will go when you die. Therefore, he also knows your human, flesh, weak at times, and yes you even needed to cry to the LORD. Get it out, and then leave it at the throne of God. When you leave, pick up the phrase “in him I will trust”, chakah and leave the trouble there for God to take care of. Remember, part of “trusting” is to flee to the LORD for protection, to be found in him, he is your refuge. As you leave your prayer closet, you don’t leave God, he goes with you! His peace goes with you as well, it is deep inside your spirit, filling you with God’s peace.
It is here you can then say with David, “he delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them that hated me: for they were too strong for me.” God knows there will those who are too strong for you. There are those who may be giants, or problems that appear as a giant. Far too big, too insurmountable to tackle on your own. For this, there is only one solution, “in him I will trust.” Flee to the LORD, find his protection, a refuge for deliverance and walk in his Word. For you will be found in him.
He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them that hated me: for they were too strong for me. They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay. He brought me forth also into a large place: he delivered me, because he delighted in me.
2nd Samuel 22:18-20 | SONS of God Trust in Him
There are many times we all go through this in our lives. Even today, the troubles of many Americans are hitting them from all sides. But as David did, so must we say, “I will give thanks unto thee O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto thy name. He is the tower of salvation for his King and shows mercy to his anointed, unto David, and to his seed for evermore.” In Jesus Christ, who is the “line of David” and who fulfilled all the promises made to David, so we too, find ourselves in David. We are David’ Seed, and even Abrahams’s seed, through Jesus Christ. You and I also live among heathen, unbelievers, and people of every sort. There are thousands of Gods and thousands of ideas on the hereafter. Yet for you and I, we don’t need to go any farther than the Word of God and his Son Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Joseph, the Son of God! We have been shown mercy by God’s grace, through faith. We believe, we have received him, and walk in him.
In Him Trust -The LORD has shown mercy to his anointed, unto David, and to seed for evermore.
Therefore, I will give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto thy name. He is the tower of salvation for his king: and shows mercy to his anointed, unto David, and to his seed for evermore 2 Samuel 22:50-51

The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Matthew 1:1
And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us. Matthew 9:27
This section is particularly important. We move to chapter 23 of Second Samuel. Herein are the last words of David. It is of David “the son of Jesse”, and “the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel.” David was Israel’s king, and, in his position, he relates a testimony to all who will hear. The very last words of this man, gives glory to the God of Israel, the Rock of Israel. In this he says that his God said to him that anyone who “rules over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.” As a result of this “ruling in the fear of God”, he lists benefits coming from the LORD to him. He [meaning the King, David himself] would be as “the light of the morning when the sun rises, every morning without clouds, as the tender grass springing up out of the earth by clear shining after rain.” These benefits came to King David, not just because he believed in the LORD, but listened and obeyed. It was simple obedience to God’s command and thus brought blessing upon him when he obeyed.
Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said, The Spirit of the LORD spoke by me, and his word was in my tongue. The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spoke to me, He that rules over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God. (2Sa 23:1-7)
2nd Samuel 23:1-3 vs above | Context 2nd Samuel 23:1-7 | SONS of God Trust in Him
To this metaphoric description we find life, health, abundance, nourishment, calm, peace, and the blessings of all things. This brings us to this promise, of literal nourishment, flowing directly from the Lord Himself to his anointed. David also goes on to say that “although my house be not so with God.” This is as we are, we look to our Father, in Jesus’ name, we seek him, but, we do not have our house with him. In fact, he has his house with us, or in us. For we are the “temple” of God. David points specifically, on his deathbed, to a promise God made with him, remember? This promise David says, “an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure, for this is all my salvation, and all my desire. 2nd Samuel 23:5”
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
1st Corinthians 3:16; 6:19 | SONS of God Trust in Him
This covenant promise fulfilled in Jesus Christ was to be fulfilled, brought to pass, and ordered by God. God made the promise, he brought it to pass. On this promise, David stood, even though, in his life, he did not see it totally fulfilled, nor could he. For the fulfillment would come decades later when Yeshua, the Son of David would appear. The one whom we call Jesus Christ.
Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead: By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name: Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:
Romans 1:3-6 | SONS of God Trust in Him | SONS of God Trust in Him
This is the trust factor. The Lord has been making and fulfilling his promises to men since he created them. In this we can be sure that this Eternal God knows our framework, our hopes, our human frailties, and even our enemies. In all things he wants to be God to us, and us to be his Son or daughter to him. We must, in these last days make up our mind that God taking care of us is a promise and one that he not only says he will do but will in fact do that very thing. He is faithful, he cannot deny himself, nor who he is. We are the seed of David, the seed of Abraham, and most importantly of all, we are the Sons of God, through Jesus Christ our LORD.
The trust factor is seen here again. We are the Sons of God by God’s grace through faith. It is not of ourselves. It is of God. We are called the Sons of God now, right now! Although we are Sons of God, we are not yet manifested as such. For we call by faith, just as our God and Father does, “calling the things that are not yet, as though they are.” This is faith.
Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, my counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: Isaiah 46:10
Lords Counsel | SONS of God Trust in Him
I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I shewed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass. Isaiah 48:3
We will be manifested and made plain to all the world, universe, and to heaven itself one day. On that day John says this, “beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. In this role, as his sons and daughters, we are to walk by faith and be obedient to his word, keeping his commandments. In all this, there is the hope and promise of a God who declared all this from the very beginning of all things. That promise is to bring forth a people where they would be his people. Those people would see this God as he is. God himself will be with them and be their God. All the former things will pass. Eternity will be welcomed in by the fulfilled promises of God who had called all things from the very beginning. These things ought to move us to follow the Trust factor, even our God and Father and Jesus Christ our LORD. For we are in him, by faith. He is our Hope and Salvation, even though the coming tough times, but then even today, things are tough. So, let’s “trust” the LORD now. Let this be our Hope, our Trust factor moving forward in the times in which we find ourselves.
And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: Revelation 6:9
